Where Sleep
is the Medicine.
Advancing the frontiers of sleep medicine through rigorous research, clinical excellence, and interdisciplinary education across the region.
About the Egyptian Sleep Society
Since 2024, the Egyptian Sleep Society has united specialists from across medicine to bring sleep science to the forefront of regional healthcare.
The founders understood that no single discipline could address sleep disorders alone. Collaboration was not optional — it was the only path forward.
Founding & Structure
The Egyptian Sleep Society (ESS) was established in 2024 by a multidisciplinary group of clinicians united by a shared commitment to advancing sleep medicine in Egypt and the wider region. Founding members were drawn from academic institutions, research societies, and private sleep centers, representing specialties including pulmonology, neurology, psychiatry, ENT, and cardiology — many with over two decades of clinical experience in sleep-related disorders.
Interdisciplinary Approach
Recognizing that sleep medicine demands an interdisciplinary approach, ESS was built on the principle that meaningful progress requires structured collaboration across specialties, institutions, and borders. The Society serves as the scientific and professional home for sleep medicine practitioners in Egypt, with a mandate spanning four core areas: clinical education, scientific research, professional development, and public health awareness.
Regional Impact
ESS is committed to raising the standard of sleep medicine practice nationally while contributing to the broader regional dialogue. Through active partnerships across the Middle East and Africa, advocating for research collaboration and equitable access to clinical expertise.
Our Belief
We hold that sleep health is a fundamental pillar of public wellbeing — one that has long been underrepresented in both clinical priorities and public discourse. ESS exists to change that: by equipping professionals with the knowledge and credentials they need, and by bringing evidence-based sleep health awareness to the communities we serve.
